On December 2, 2022, Santander Consumer USA Inc. (“Santander Consumer”) identified an issue with a component supporting its data warehouse platform. While all of Santander Consumer’s core system data remained intact, the issue resulted in transactional information being temporarily unavailable to Santander Consumer’s customer service agents or its online customer portal. Due to the disruption, Santander Consumer voluntarily ceased outbound collection activities, vehicle repossessions and vehicle dispositions, among other servicing operations. Santander Consumer was still able to receive and process inbound payments and inbound customer service calls. Servicing operations are in the process of being restored to pre-incident levels. The ultimate impact of this servicing disruption or any other future disruption of Santander Consumer’s systems on the servicing of motor vehicle retail installment sale contracts, installment loans and leases cannot be predicted.
