Mahesh Aditya, Vice Chair

Mahesh Aditya was named President and CEO of Santander Consumer in December 2019. He joined Santander Holdings in March 2017 as US Chief Operating Officer and was named US Chief Risk Officer in May 2018. He is currently on the Board of Santander Consumer and till December 2019 was on the Board of Banco Santander Puerto Rico. Prior to joining Santander he was the Chief Risk Officer and Member of the Operating Committee for Visa Inc.

Mahesh started his career with Citibank in 1990 in Risk Management and Operations in India. He then helped start Citibank’s Credit Card and Retail Banking business in Egypt. He was subsequently based in Madrid as Chief Risk Officer of Citibank Spain and Portugal and later in New York as CRO for Citibank North America. Mahesh left Citibank after 17 years and joined JPMorgan Chase as Chief Risk Officer of Retail Banking and later served as CRO Mortgage Banking. Between 2009 and 2011 he worked at Capital One as Head of Risk for Mortgage and Business Banking.

Mahesh has a degree in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University and an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University. He has served as a member of the board of Early Warning Systems (EWS).

He was elected to serve as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors August 2022 and serves on our Executive Committee.

Homaira Akbari, Director

Dr. Homaira Akbari was appointed to serve on our Board of Directors as of January 2020. Dr. Akbari will serve on the Company’s Risk Committee. Dr. Akbari is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of AKnowledge Partners, LLC, a global advisory firm providing high-impact consultative strategies and advice to Fortune 1000 companies and private equity firms in the sectors of The Internet of Things ("IoT"), Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and analytics. She is currently an advisor for the Board of WorkFusion, the leading provider of intelligent automation software. Dr. Akbari also serves on the Board of Directors of Landstar System, Inc., a transportation logistics company listed on NASDAQ, Banco Santander, S.A., a company incorporated in Spain and listed on the BME Madrid that is the sole shareholder of Santander Holdings, Inc., the majority shareholder of the Company, Temenos AG, a publicly traded software enterprise and US Pack Holdings, a private company in last mile transportation. From 2007 to 2012, Dr. Akbari was the President and Chief Executive Officer of SkyBitz, Inc., a leading provider of IoT asset tracking and security solutions specializing in real-time decision-making tools for companies with unpowered assets such as truck trailing equipment, intermodal containers and rail cars. Prior to her service with SkyBitz, Dr. Akbari held executive positions at Microsoft Corporation, Thales Group, TruePosition, Inc., a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation, and Cambridge Strategic Management Group. Dr. Akbari holds a Ph.D. in particle physics from Tufts University and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business. She served as the Chair of the Johns Hopkins University Physics and Astronomy Advisory Council, and is currently a member of Business Board of Advisors for Tepper School of Business. Previously, Dr. Akbari served on the board of directors of several public companies including Gemalto N.V., Veolia S.A. and Covisint Corporation, a company formerly listed on the NASDAQ.

Juan Carlos Alvarez, Director

Juan Carlos Alvarez de Soto, CFA, is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Santander US and Santander Bank, N.A. (SBNA). He is a member of the Santander Consumer Board of Directors, Executive Committee and the Santander US Executive Committees.

Juan Carlos was appointed CFO for Santander US and SBNA in September 2019. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Chief Financial Officer for Santander Consumer U.S.A. and was the Corporate Treasurer for Santander Holdings USA, Inc. (SHUSA), overseeing SHUSA’s liquidity risk management, asset liability management and treasury functions.

He joined Santander in 1996 and brings more than 25 years of investment and trading expertise to his current role. Before joining Santander US, he was Senior Vice President and Head of Treasury and Investments for Santander’s International Private Banking at Banco Santander International and Banco Santander Suisse. Prior to joining Santander, Juan Carlos worked as part of the Treasury team for Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C. and for FIMAT (Société Generale’s group) in Spain.

Juan Carlos holds a Master of Science Degree in Finance from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Tulane University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Leonard Coleman Jr., Director

Mr. Coleman joined the Santander Bank N.A. Board in January 2021 and serves on the Compensation and Talent Management Committee. He was also appointed to the Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc. (SC) Board in January 2021 and serves on their Risk Committee. He served on the SC Compensation and Talent Management Committee from January 2021 until August 2022.

Mr. Coleman is the former president of the National League of Professional Baseball Clubs. He signed on with Major League Baseball in 1992 as Executive Director-Market Development. Previously, Mr. Coleman was a municipal finance banker for Kidder, Peabody & Company. Prior to joining Kidder, he served as commissioner of both the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and Department of Energy, and chairman of the Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission and the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. Mr. Coleman was the vice chairman of the State Commission on Ethical Standards and a member of the Economic Development Authority, Urban Enterprise Zone Authority, Urban Development Authority, State Planning Commission and New Jersey Public Television Commission. Mr. Coleman also has served as president of the Greater Newark Urban Coalition.

From 1976 to 1980, Mr. Coleman worked in Africa in mission service for the Protestant Episcopal Church of the United States, providing management consultant services in health care, education and church and community development in 17 African countries. After graduating with a degree in history from Princeton University, Mr. Coleman received a master’s in public administration and a master’s in education and social policy from Harvard University.

In addition to serving as honorary chairman of the board of the Jackie Robinson Foundation (which he chaired for nearly 20 years), Mr. Coleman serves on the Board of Directors of the Omnicom Group, AvisBudget, Aramark and Electronic Arts. He also serves as a director of a number of other organizations, including the Metropolitan Opera and the Schumann Fund. Mr. Coleman is a former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Presiding Bishop’s Fund for World Relief and the United States chairman of the Bishop Tutu Scholarship Fund.

Edith E. Holiday, Director

Ms. Holiday joined the Santander Holdings USA, Inc. Board in December 2019 where she is Chairman of the Compensation and Talent Management Committee and serves as a member of the Risk Committee. She joined the Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc. Board in November 2016 and serves as a member of the Risk Committee. She served as Chairman of the Compensation and Talent Management Committee and as a member of the Regulatory and Compliance Oversight Committee until August 2022.

Ms. Holiday is a member of the Board of Directors of Hess Corporation, White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd., and Canadian National Railway and is a member of the Boards of Directors or Trustees of various investment companies in the Franklin Templeton Group of Funds, serving as Lead Trustee of each of the Franklin Funds and Templeton Funds.

Ms. Holiday also served on the Boards of Directors of RTI International Metals, Inc. from 1999 to 2015, and the HJ Heinz Company from 1994 to 2013. Ms. Holiday was also the President, Secretary and Treasurer of Comcast TW Holdings, Inc. from 2006 to 2007. From 1990 to 1993, she was Assistant to the President of the United States and Secretary of the U.S. Cabinet. From 1989 to 1990, she served as General Counsel of the U.S. Treasury Department, and from 1988 to 1989, she served as Counselor to the Secretary and Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and Public Liaison of the U.S. Treasury Department. Prior to that, Ms. Holiday held various other positions in government and in private practice.

Ms. Holiday holds a B.S. and a J.D. from the University of Florida and is a member of the State Bars of Florida, Georgia and the District of Columbia.

Javier Maldonado, Director

Mr. Maldonado joined the Boards of Santander Holdings USA, Inc.; Santander Bank, N.A.; Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc. and Santander Investment Securities, Inc. in 2015.

He has served as the Vice Chairman of Santander Holdings USA Inc. since October 2015 and is a member of the Nominations, Executive and Risk Committees. Mr. Maldonado is also a member of the Santander Bank, N.A. Risk and Compensation and Talent Management Committees and Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc. Executive Committee. He served as a member of the Santander Consumer USA Holdings, Inc. Compensation, Executive and Regulatory and Compliance Oversight Committees until August 2022.

Mr. Maldonado was appointed to the Board of Banco Santander International in 2016 where he served as a member of the Executive Committee until August 2022. From 2015 to September 2020, Mr. Maldonado served on the Santander BanCorp Board and as Chairman of its Compensation and Talent Management Committee. He also served on the Banco Santander Puerto Rico Board during that time.

Mr. Maldonado is Senior Executive Vice President, Global Head of Cost Control at Banco Santander, S.A. Mr. Maldonado has held numerous management positions at Santander, including Senior Executive Vice President, Head of the General Directorate for Coordination and Control of Regulatory Projects in the Risks Division, and Executive Committee Director and Head of Internal Control and Corporate Development for Santander UK.

Mr. Maldonado served on the Board of Alawwal Bank (formerly known as the Saudi Hollandi Bank Riyadh) from 2008 to 2019. He practiced corporate and international law for thirteen years and previously was an attorney with Baker & McKenzie and Corporate and International Law Department Head at J.Y. Hernandez-Canut Law Firm.

Mr. Maldonado received a law degree from UNED University and a law degree from Northwestern University.

William F. Muir, Chair

William Muir was appointed to the Santander Holdings, USA Inc. (SHUSA) Board of Directors in August 2022. He was also appointed to the SHUSA Audit Committee in September 2022. Mr. Muir joined the Santander Consumer Holdings USA Inc. (SC) Board of Directors in November 2016 and served as Chair of the Audit Committee and was a member of the Executive, Risk, and Regulatory and Compliance Oversight Committees until August 2022. He was appointed Chairman of the SC Board, Risk and Executive Committees in August 2022. Mr. Muir was also appointed to the Santander Bank, N.A. Board in October 2022.

In 2014, Mr. Muir retired from Ally Financial Inc. (formerly known as General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC)), where he served as President and head of its Global Automotive Financial Services business since 2004. Prior to that time, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 1998 to 2004. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Muir served as executive-in-charge of operations and then executive director of planning at Delphi Automotive Systems, a former subsidiary of General Motors (GM). Prior to serving at Delphi Automotive Systems, he served in various executive capacities with Ally since first joining Ally in 1992 and also served in a number of capacities with GM since joining the company in 1983. Mr. Muir also served as Chairman of the Ally Insurance Group from 1999 to 2014, a member of the Ally Commercial Finance Board from 2002 to 2013, and a member of the Ally Bank Board of Directors from 2004 to 2016.

Mr. Muir received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and operations research from Cornell University in 1977. He earned a master’s of business administration degree from Harvard University in 1983.

Timothy Wennes, Director

Tim Wennes is the Santander US Chief Executive Officer and Country Head, as well as President and Chief Executive Officer of Santander Bank, N.A. (SBNA). Tim is responsible for managing all Santander US businesses, as well as establishing and executing long-range growth strategies in the United States.

Santander US is comprised of Santander Bank, with top 20 multifamily and commercial real estate lending businesses and growing consumer and commercial banking activities in the Northeast; Santander Consumer – a top 10 auto lender; strong corporate and investment banking division; and a thriving wealth management business. With a focus on digital innovation and investments that drive a best-in-class customer experience, Tim and his leadership team are building on Santander’s global strength and scale to accelerate growth and brand recognition in the U.S.

Tim joined Santander in September 2019. He has more than 30 years of experience in banking and finance, and is a member of the Santander Holdings USA, Inc. and SBNA Boards of Directors and Executive Committees. Tim was appointed to the Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc., the Banco Santander International and the Pierpont Capital Holdings LLC Boards of Directors in August 2022. He also serves on the governing board for the nonprofit Operation HOPE, Inc., which focuses on financial dignity and inclusion, and helping people secure a better future through financial education.

Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and an MBA in International Business from California State University Fullerton.

Bruce Jackson, Director

Bruce Jackson was named Head of Santander US Auto Business and CEO of Santander Consumer USA in March 2023. He joined SC in 2021 as President of Chrysler Capital and Auto Relationships. Mr. Jackson made a significant impact on the business by enhancing the dealer and manufacturer experience and contributing to SC’s overall growth as the fifth largest full spectrum auto lender. He is currently on the Board of Santander Consumer USA Holdings Inc., Santander Consumer USA Inc., and a member of the Executive Committee.

Prior to SC, Mr. Jackson served as Managing Director and Head of Dealer Services for JPMorgan Chase since 2013. While at Chase, he was responsible for the P&L for the bank's portfolio of consumer auto loans, commercial loans, and treasury management products and services, and a team of more than 1,100 employees. He also provided lineof-business oversight in the areas of regulatory compliance, expense management, lending strategies, pricing and digital offerings. Prior to joining Chase, Mr. Jackson held senior auto finance leadership roles at Ally Financial, Bank of America, WFS Financial and Toyota Motor Credit.

Mr. Jackson earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Sam Houston State University.
